I heard the door close
It wasn't open
In
fact it was locked
I went to it
It was still locked
From the inside
Like I left it
I shook my head
Just my imagination
I walked into the kitchen
On the counter
There it was
An envelope
Just my name
Plain and white
Went back to the door
It is still locked
Was
still locked
I
walked around the house
It
is just me here
How did this get here
A plain white envelope
I turned it over a few times
It wasn't sealed
Lifted the flap
Carefully removed a folded page
Unfolding it
I saw faint type
Small lettering
Formal
"Statement of Account"
On the top
Then my name
I set it down
What joke is this
I
looked around again
And
again and again
Yet
here it is
A bill
No company name
I looked at the envelope again
Nothing
Back to the page
I unfolded it further
Looking for something
Anything that makes sense
The print was so small
Could barely read it
Then to the bottom
It said, "PAID IN FULL"
With a credit balance
This makes no sense
Credit of what
For
what
I don't get it
I turned the page over
Over and over and over
Then I saw it
Appearing in the bottom right corner
Small but legible
Hand written
"Don't worry ...
Your credit is good with me.
You'll never overdraw your account.
So stop worrying.
God"
God"
