We Weren't Done Talking

i rolled over
at least i tried
i was held back
holding each other
not wanting to let go
she said to stay
a while longer
we were laying in the grass
under an ancient oak tree
this was heaven
i didn't really want to go
where am i
who are you
how did we get here
we loosened our embrace
i sat up
back against the massive trunk
she sitting just off to my left
i rubbed my eyes
shook my head

I looked around

the sun was bright

through the leaves

with white puffy clouds

and an azure blue sky
and there she was
smiling like a child
obvious with love
those eyes
stunning eyes
never seen the like before
one was this sea blue green
the other this luminescent hazel
different colored eyes
i shook my head again
looked around again
then back to her
what an amazing smile
warmth to melt an iceberg
this isn't real
she reached out to me
touched my left arm
as if to say it is real
she said nothing
just smiled sheepishly
we looked about
as if embarrassed
then she said "Hi"
and we had a conversation
we couldn't stop
it was all so natural
can't remember about what
but we talked and talked
the rhythm was there
ebb and flow
she with me
me with her

giggles and laughter in the mix

who are you

then she began to fade

"No. Please wait."

then her touch went away

her eyes were last to go

they blinked and i was alone

sitting up

in a dark room

where am i

slowly it came to me

i am in my bed

it was all just a dream

but it was all too real

i want to go back to sleep

find her again

we weren't done talking
